Dear European Bluegrass Friends,

Since 2009, a highlight in the European bluegrass calendar has been the annual meeting in early spring where musicians, fans, event organisers and other activists share ideas and plan coordinated development initiatives for Bluegrass across Europe.
The EBMA is now happy to confirm that arrangements have been made for the
2015 European Bluegrass Gathering
(formerly “Summit”) to be held on the weekend of 13-15 March 2015 in Munich, Germany.
The Gathering is open to all, professionals and non-professionals, members and non-members of the European or other bluegrass associations, and previous participants include fans, musicians, promoters, journalists, webmasters, national association reps and anyone else with a personal, professional or organisational interest in Bluegrass in Europe.
The meeting will follow up on plans laid out last year in Prague and and will be hosted by the Munich Bluegrass Friends and their 5th Munich Bluegrass Festival.
Everybody is invited, from all European regions, and we hope to make the 2015 European Bluegrass Gathering a unique event for everybody involved.
Costs and arrangements for travel, food and accommodation as usual are the entire responsibility of the participants. The gathering will be limited to 60 delegates and early booking (in particular of rooms) is advised. Detailed information and registration to be online shortly at our website.

Please help us spread the word to people you think should attend this gathering.

Kind regards,
Angelika Torrie, Chairman of EBMA

Welcome to the 2015 European Bluegrass Gathering

  • Event-Tent das Schloss (The Castle), Schwere Reiter Strasse 15, 80637 Munich (

Goal of the 2015 European Bluegrass Gathering

  • In line with EBMA's mission to work together to support Bluegrass music across borders, the meeting once again aims to provide participants with a forum for exchange on subjects in which they take a personal and active interest. There will be panel sessions on subjects of general interest, and round table meeting opportunities for topics only a few people want to work on.

Participation fee

  • As in previous years, the costs and necessary arrangements for travel, subsistence and accommodation are the entire responsibility of the participants.
  • The price for participants of the gathering is 55EUR /person and includes: access to all European Bluegrass Gathering activities Friday/Saturday/Sunday, Friday and Saturday festival ticket, traditional „Weisswurstessen“.

Accommodation, meals and rooms

  • The IBIS Hotel Munich City offering a reduced rate for Bluegrass Festival and Gathering participants and their companions. The prices including a rich breakfast buffet are 79EUR per room/night single rooms, and 89EUR per room/night double rooms. A number of rooms have been blocked, but as Munich is a hospitable city, with many fairs and congresses all the time, we can hold them only until 29th January 2015. Booking before the end of 2014 is advised. To confirm the reservation of your room and the conference package (which is necessary for participation in the Gathering) please complete the online form at our webpage:

Topics for panel or group sessions in 2015

  • Associations in Europe, this will be of interest to both association activists as well as bluegrass fans/members
  • for European Bands: How to gig through US,
  • Bluegrass cinema
  • Bluegrass History panel session (in English and German)
  • Make your arrangements: IBMA WOB in Raleigh 2015 – registration opens in March 2015

5th Munich Bluegrass Festival

  • The festival features the Sons of Navarone (B), Blackjack (CZ), Blue Side of Town, Grass Root Ties, Strictly Bluegrass, Saller & Friends (all Germany), plus more to be confirmed. The festival is trying to get funds through a crowdfunding platform. Although it is in German, it is quite workable. But you’ll have to pay through online banking (no credit card, no PayPal). Only 20% so far of the expected 3‘750EUR have been funded… Please consider donating a generous amount – we will give you the conference package at half price if crowdfunding is successful!

EBMA Awards

  • In the evening of Saturday, European Bluegrass Pioneer and Personality Awards will be presented to the pioneers elected by EBMA’s independend Award committee.

Trading T-Shirts (and such...)

  • If you want to get rid of the old T-shirts from your festival or organisation (as well as stickers, badges, CDs...) BRING THEM! Other participants might like them, take them, wear them and promote your event or band in another part of the world!
